Title:  Medical Simulation in Israel Today

Discussion:  Israeli Medical Simulation is growing rapidly, well beyond its' origins in Emergency Medical Management of Trauma.  Newer emphasis in Ob/Gyn has contributed to the body of knowledge about the value of this learning technology in improving clinical outcomes for obstetrical patients and their newborn.  Future directions in Risk Management at the Sheba Medical Center, Tel - Hashomer will be mentioned.

Professor Gad Barkai, a graduate of the Sackler School of Medicine Tel Aviv University, is Senior Vice Chair of the Ob/Gyn Service at the Sheba Medical Center, Tel - Hashomer.

Since 2003, he has been In charge of the Risk Management and Patient Safety Program in Ob/Gyn, and a member of the National Counseling Committee (Genetics, Ob/Gyn & Neonatology) of the Israeli Ministry of Health.  Since 2005, he has been In charge of the National Simulation and Training Program in Extreme & Potentially High Risk Perinatal Scenarios.

He is a guest at CISL & the Department of Ob/Gyn (Drs. LeRoy Heinrichs and Kay Daniels are hosting his visit) studying development of virtual patient scenarios in Ob/Gyn.
