Opportunities
The Center for Immersive and Simulation-based Learning provides opportunities for
- Volunteers:
Volunteers are needed to help Stanford faculty and staff run simulations for different learner populations. In particular the following kinds of volunteers are sought
- Clinicians (doctors, nurses, allied health professionals) to be teachers, "actors (playing themselves)", assistants
- Cognitive psychologists or human factors experts to be research collaborators, consultants, or teachers
- Audiovisual experts or computer programmers to advise on or help upgrade simulation center systems
- Fellowships: One to two year post-doctoral fellowships in simulation and patient safety are offered by the Department of Anesthesia (contact: David Gaba), the Division of Emergency Medicine (contact: Phillip Harter), and the Division of Neonatology (contact: Lou Halamek). Fellowship graduates have gone on to direct major simulation centers around the world.
- Summer Interns: Unpaid summer intern positions for university students or university graduates are sometimes available in the simulation centers.
